In the making of the film, we were so concerned about honestly portraying the experience of competitive wrestling that we auditioned people who actually lived the parts.
The two lead characters — Danny Mousetis as Leo Leone and Justin Spates as Thurman Ellis, Jr. — are, in fact, championship wrestlers. Because of that, not only are the emotions real, but the wrestling scenes in the movie are authentic.
